Low Key Plant ID Workshop

  • Richland Public Library- Conference Rooms A + B 955 Northgate Drive Richland, WA, 99352 United States (map)

Join us for an informal plant identification session. We will learn together using tools, keys, apps and more to identify native plants in the sagebrush steppe.

We will have a brief overview of tools available and then move into learning together!

What to bring: A copy of Hitchcock's Flora of the PNW, or another local flora you have on hand and a hand lens (10x or 16x) if you have these items available to you. Don’t have them? Don’t fret! We will have a couple copies and lenses available to share. If you would like, bring a native plant sample (not garden cultivars, or weeds), so we can look at it together.

Note: Do not collect your native plant sample from the wild. Bring it from your native plant garden! (or a friends). Your native plant sample should include the root, shoot, flower, leaves and seeds or fruits are helpful if available. You can follow this guide for collecting and storing a plant sample: https://www.uwyo.edu/barnbackyard/_files/documents/magazine/2010/summer/plant-preservation-summer-2010.pdf

All botanical skill levels are welcome and encouraged to attend this free workshop!
