WILDFIRE WALK + DISCUSSION
September Meeting - Wednesday September 6th 6-7:30 PM
The charred black hills and smoky summer air serve as a constant reminder that wildfire season is a new normal in our backyards. But what happens to the landscape after the flames subside? Join us to observe part of the aftermath of the Yakitat fire that consumed over 6,000 acres of shrub-steppe habitat in Horse Heaven Hills this past June. Together, we’ll document what plant species have shown signs of life, areas of concern and what hope lies in the ashes. We’ll also share what we know about current restoration efforts on the horizon and how we can help. All are welcome to this free event!
Meeting Point: McBee Grade Trailhead in Benton City
