Save the Genes: Sagebrush Seed Salvage

  • Columbia Basin Chapter, WNPS P.O. Box 221 Richland, WA 99352 USA (map)

Join us in salvaging sagebrush seeds from a site soon to be developed in Benton City. Though they may perish, their genes will live on! We'll learn about our local sagebrush and how to tell if the seeds are ripe. Closed toe shoes and long pants and gloves recommended. Garden pruners and a large paper bag would be helpful if you have it. Seeds collected will be used for future chapter activities including restoration plantings and educational events. Thank you for supporting the diverse genetics of our shrub steppe habitat!
