Monthly Zoom Meeting: Citizen Science with UW Rare Care Program-Rare Plants of Eastern Washington

  • Columbia Basin Chapter, WNPS (map)

Join us for a discussion with Anna Carragee, the volunteer and outreach coordinator with UW’s Rare Care plant monitoring program!  Rare Care is part of the UW Botanic Garden with a focus on monitoring, conservation and recovery of rare flora of Washington State.  We’ll learn about a few of the rare species in Eastern Washington the program is hoping to monitor this year and how we can help!  We’ll also hear from one of our very own members, Darcy Dauble, about her experience as a Rare Care volunteer!  All are welcome to join this free event.

Rare Care is a program within the University of Washington’s Botanic Gardens. Their mission is to ‘...build partnerships with federal, state and local agencies to provide critical information needed in the conservation and recovery of our state’s native rare species. Citizen scientists and students participate in rare plant monitoring, ex situ conservation, reintroduction and education.’ Check out their website to learn more! https://botanicgardens.uw.edu/science-conservation/rarecare/
